I had a wonderful evening on Saturday night and I have been telling anyone who will listen about it! I mentioned, for example, to my 24 year old daughter and her friend that it would be so worthwhile if they learned about wine at their age and could have a lifetime of true appreciation. As for me, better late than never!
I wanted to share a story with you: on Sunday night, the night after I attended your presentation, I was preparing a beautiful seafood dinner for friends and family. I was telling them about the wonderful experience I’d had the night before and how it completely changed my visit, that afternoon, to the SAQ to purchase wine for the meal.
Because few people here are knowledgeable about wine, I wasn’t too worried about my selections. However, I did have an ace up my sleeve: a bottle of dessert wine that I had purchased in Italy upon the wine seller’s advice based on what I told him I was looking for (it turns it is muscat).
When it was time for dessert, I brought out the wine that I had been chilling and I told them that it was a wine I’d brought back from my travels and which I was saving for a special occasion. I poured them each a little wine (as per your instructions) and told them why I was doing it that way. Then we all toasted and took a sip. Simultaneously, a moan of pleasure and a “WOW” went around the table! It was a remarkable moment that we will surely all remember. I told them that according to you, that is what a fine wine can do! In that instant, we all “got it.”
So thank you for sharing your passion and knowledge with me. Without trying to sound dramatic, it quite simply changed my life. I will never look at wine the same way again. I look forward to learning more from the master.
